"We help you get to the light at the end of the tunnel..."
Van Riper and Nies Attorneys are known for their proactive litigation style, personal service and trial savviness.
The life and work experiences of our attorneys distinguish them from other family law attorneys.
Christian Van Riper, a lifelong resident of Stuart, was an investigator with DCF prior to attending law school. In that capacity, he investigated allegations and cases of child neglect and abuse. While attending Stetson University College of Law, where he graduated in the top of his class, Christian served as a Law Clerk for the Supreme Court of Florida, where he advised Supreme Court Justices on criminal and civil issues, including family law issues. After law school, Christian served as an Assistant State Attorney, where he prosecuted cases of domestic abuse and juvenile crimes, among others. As a prosecutor, with a heavy case load, Christian honed his jury trial skills and learned to work quickly and smartly under pressure. His experience as both a DCF investigator and a prosecutor affords him with unique insight into issues facing family and the field of family law.
Attorney Tim Nies, a veteran of the U.S. Army Ranger, having served with the elite 75th Ranger Regiment, attended Nova Southeastern University. While in law school, Tim clerked for one of the most well-known family law attorneys in South Florida, where he worked on high profile, high value divorce cases. Thereafter, he worked for the largest law firms in Florida as a senior trial attorney, where he too honed and polished his trial skills.
Our family law practice includes:
- Divorce Actions, contested and uncontested,
- Child Support,
- Child Neglect,
- Child Visitation,
- Domestic Violence - we represent spouses requiring restraining orders,
- Paternity Tests,
- Relocation, and
- Prenuptial Agreements.
Given Christian Van Riper's experience as a DCF investigator, we are sensitive to issues involving children. Divorce and child custody proceedings are particularly stressful to young children. The stress of a drawn-out and ugly dissolution of marriage and custody battle may result in problems at school, resentment, and psychological disturbances.
We, more than many other firms, will strive to keep the best interests of our clients' children the primary focus of our family law practice. Our goal is to come up with a solution to each and every family law case quickly and economically.
To thank those that make sacrifices for our country and community, our law firm proudly offers a 20% discount on our family law legal fees for all:
- active-duty military personnel.
- military veterans.
- law enforcement officers.
